
Emily A. Haozous, PhD, RN, FAAN (Chiricahua Fort Sill Apache) is a nurse and Research Scientist with the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation’s Southwest Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Haozous’ research is guided by the health and wellness priorities of the Native American partners with whom she collaborates. Her publications cover a broad range of topics according to the priorities of those communities, from cancer pain management and cancer decision-making, telehealth and video conferencing, complementary and alternative therapies for pain management, to issues in racial misclassification, national trends in premature mortality, deaths of despair, and issues of health equity. Dr. Haozous has a background in hospice and palliative care nursing and is passionate about policy change to brings equitable healthcare access for Native Americans.
